Title: The Spirit of Detroit
Client: The Marshall Fredericks Museum at Saginaw Valley State University
Role: Director, Designer, Rigger, Animator, and Sound Editor
This video was commissioned for the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan. The short video follows the sculpture from downtown Detroit, up through Royal Oak and Birmingham to the sculptor’s grave, and on to Birch Run and Flint until reaching it’s destination at the museum in Saginaw. Marshall M. Fredericks was a world renowned sculpor, who called the Detroit area his home for most of his life. His work is showcased at the musuem both indoors, and in a recently renovated sculpture garden.
This was primarily done in After Effects using DUIK. The newspaper, and a few other elements were animated tradigitally in Adobe Animate. All assets were designed on paper, then reworked in illustrator, and finally textured in Photoshop.
