Brooklyn Singer/Songwriter Joe Rayome approached me, during the Covid-19 pandemic, to help mix and master this song he was commissioned to write for Northern Michigan University. Joe supplied me with the stems, and I worked to EQ, compress, cleanup, and add reverb to the audio where necessary. The biggest challenge on this project, was that the vocals were recorded in a less-than-ideal environment – an apartment. Using a combination of two eqs, I was able to carve out some of the extra reflections, then replace the room reverb with something a little more appropriate (Waves Renaissance) to the tone of the piece. We want to keep the song, simple, stripped down, but with a strong presence. We were both very happy with the results, as was the team at Northern Michigan University.
